Campaign: Empower Makers

Skills can change lives. That’s why we are committed to empowering 10 million makers, creators and innovators by 2030 – preparing new generations of workers to pursue tomorrow’s careers and leadership opportunities.

As technology evolves and transforms the working landscape, over 10 million jobs in manufacturing, engineering and other technical fields remain unfilled due to a drastic global skills gap. In this fast-paced environment, our own employees, and those of organizations across the world, will require training and upskilling to ensure that this gap is bridged – to fill vacant technical job posts now, and in the future.

As part of this vision, we are continuing our long-standing partnership with WorldSkills International – one of the world’s largest vocational skills competition – helping to inspire thousands of young people to experience and learn cutting-edge techniques and expert crafts. Taking place every two years, this exceptional event showcases the value of technical education and reinforces the importance of skilled trade professionals worldwide.

At each competition, we empower more than 1,000 young makers from more than 60 countries, providing the tools for them to acquire critical skills and develop valuable, in-depth knowledge in a diverse variety of practical trades. This year from August 22-27 in Kazan, Russia, we supported seven vital fields at WorldSkills 2019: Cabinetmaking, Carpentry, Concrete Construction Work, Electrical Installations, Joinery, Plumbing and Heating, and Landscape Gardening.

We’re proud to sponsor this unique competition, dedicated to advancing the practical knowhow and abilities of talented young people from all around the globe – enabling them to achieve their career ambitions and thrive in an ever-changing workplace, while providing them with the skills to build a better world.
