Caterpillar Inc. is at the forefront of hybrid technology in large machines, exemplified in its new 336E-H line of hybrid hydraulic excavators. These new excavators first rolled off the line in 2013 and are the first of their kind to convert captured energy into hydraulic instead of electric power. The new hydraulic hybrid system integrated in the 336E-H can handle the same amount of work as the powerful 336D machine, but using 33% less fuel.

The hybrid excavator was recently featured in a local news story by the Peoria Journal Star earlier this year.
