De Beers scores with local football squads

The company handed over kits to 32 teams in Blouberg and Musina in the Limpopo Province, as part of the De Beers Community Fair in February.

To celebrate, a friendly match was played by a team from each area, with Lebash Football Club from Blouberg running out 5-4 winners after a penalty shoot-out.

Josephine Pieters, Corporate Affairs Manager for De Beers Consolidated Mines, said: “Sports development is an important element of engaging and developing our youth. It therefore gives us great pleasure to provide our young people with soccer kits and equipment.”

The company held three community fairs – in Musina, Eldorado and Alldays – attended by about 2,000 people. Read more here.
