The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) recently announced that FedEx is one of the top 20 commercial solar users in the U.S. FedEx ranks 14th and 16th respectively in capacity and number of systems.

Since FedEx opened its first solar facility in 2005, EarthSmart solar facilities at FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and FedEx Freight have produced 18 gigawatt-hours of solar electricity and saved 6,858 metric tons of carbon emissions – roughly equivalent to powering a small town with clean energy for a whole year. FedEx will continue to evaluate the expansion of solar facilities and has plans to open a new array in Newark in 2013.
