As one of the world’s largest baby care consumer product companies, Kimberly-Clark recognizes our responsibility to confront some of the biggest issues facing mothers all over the world.

Our Huggies brand in Kenya has partnered with the non-profit Malaria No More (MNM) to help eliminate Malaria and the needless death of children to a preventable disease. K-C's support allowed the recent delivery of 200,000 pediatric antimalarial treatments to Kenyans in need at the Kenya Power of One Treatment Event.

On November 4th, the Government of Kenya, Novartis, K-C and other stakeholders in partnership with Malaria No More hosted the event at Kombewa District Hospital in Kisumu, Kenya to celebrate and recognize the delivery of treatments. Located in an endemic area, Kisumu is on the front lines of Malaria in Kenya. The event started with a community march to galvanize support and raise Malaria awareness. Speakers then underscored the vast progress that Kenya has made in halting Malaria deaths, discussed innovative tools in continuing the fight against Malaria and highlighted the significance of working with partners like K-C to strengthen the Malaria eradication process.

"Through partnerships like this, our Huggies brand can help mothers protect their babies, and even help them thrive,” said Fiona Tomlin, Baby and Child Care Sector Leader in EMEA. “Our efforts began earlier this year as we helped to provide potentially life-saving educational messaging to those most vulnerable to malaria, and now with this treatment delivery, we’re providing much-needed care. These are important steps towards achieving our mission – to lead the world in essentials for a better life.”

The 200,000 treatment donation comes on top of the Mothers Against Malaria campaign, a K-C supported program aimed at raising awareness and educating Kenyans, especially women and young children under five about Malaria.

In addition, there was a designated malaria clinic for the community where free Malaria testing and treatment were provided including free vaccination for children under five. Families that received free malaria testing also participated in a brief health education session on proper bed net use and received bed nets free of charge.

K-C is committed to being on the forefront of Malaria eradication in Kenya. This event celebrated the strides in providing treatment and education to those affected and exposed to Malaria every day.
