Keysight Employees Receive 2020 Society of Women Engineers Awards

We’re proud of our strong relationship with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and we’re excited to participate in WE20, the world's largest conference for women engineers.

Like SWE, Keysight strives to support the success and advancement of women engineers in the workplace, and to empower and inspire our employees to reach their full potential, feel supported, be connected and inspired, and inspire others. Keysight has had a strong commitment to supporting SWE’s development of tomorrow’s STEM leaders and its focus on female collegiate engineering students.

This year, 5 Keysight employees received SWE Awards for their efforts:

SWE 2020 Advocating Women in Engineering Award Winner

This award honors individuals who have demonstrated professional excellence in their chosen STEM field and proven to be an advocate of women in engineering and SWE’s objectives. Robin was cited by SWE for exceptional leadership as an engineering manager; for advocacy in recruiting and retaining women in engineering fields; and for redefining engineering to better suit one’s personality and strengths. Only five of these national awards are presented this year.

Robin is the application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) test, reliability, new product introduction manager for the Keysight Laboratories ASIC Technology organization, where she is responsible for the test development and deployment of breakthrough ASIC technologies to enable next-generation products. She has also held a variety of positions within marketing, R&D, and manufacturing, which created an appreciation of the myriad applications and versatility of an engineering degree. She strives to convey the diversity of the profession when speaking with students and other aspiring engineers, especially women, who may have a narrow perception of the industry. Robin holds a B.S. in electrical Electrical engineering Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

SWE 2020 Emerging Leader Award Winner

This award honors an engineer who has been actively engaged in an engineering or technology profession and has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills as an individual, resulting in significant accomplishments. This recognition is awarded to engineers who have 10-15 years of cumulative engineering experience while serving as an inspiration to women currently in, and aspiring to be in, industry. Winners must also demonstrate outstanding community leadership. Only ten of these national awards are presented this year.

Laura is an engineering manager at Keysight Technologies in Santa Rosa, Ca. In this role she is responsible for launching products for the 5G market, contributing millions of dollars in revenue annually. She has held progressively larger roles within Keysight such as project management and new product introduction since joining in 2005 as a software engineer.

In addition to using her leadership skills at Keysight, Laura works with multiple organizations outside the office to enhance the community around her. This includes helping host Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day and doing community service activities such as the food bank and events that help the homeless. In her spare time, Laura enjoys playing golf as a team captain in her Keysight golf league. Laura is a black belt in judo and created a children’s judo program that later became a non-profit.

Patent Recognition Award Winner

SWE's Patent Recognition Award recognizes SWE members who have been awarded a patent within the previous ten years from the award application deadline.

Bernadette currently works in Keysight’s Communications Solutions Group as an R&D Software Engineer. When she joined Keysight in 2011, she worked as a new product introduction Test Software Engineer working with network analyzers. Bernadette has a B.S. in Physics from Caltech and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In her free time, she teaches physics at Sonoma State University and enjoys reading, motorcycling, and spending time with her family.

Michelle began her career as a hardware design engineer, building communication semiconductors for ground base station satellites.  She has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.  Michelle joined Keysight in 2017, via the Ixia acquisition, where she was a Director of Sales supporting NEM accounts in Silicon Valley.  Now based in Colorado Springs, Michelle currently works as a Product Manager helping to launch new products related to 400GE technology.  An avid outdoor seeker, Michelle can be found hiking and cycling.  When not in the mountains, you can find Michelle on the tennis court.

Patent Recognition Award Winner

SWE's Patent Recognition Award recognizes SWE members who have been awarded a patent within the previous ten years from the award application deadline.

Patti is a Principal Software Engineer for the Network Visibility business in CSG at Keysight Technologies.  She has been with Keysight for 12 years (through the Ixia acquisition).  She designed and implemented the filter compiler for the Network Packet Broker products, which led to 5 patents.  Patti received her BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa and her MS in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.  She was active in SWE in college and on and off through-out her professional career.  In her free time, she enjoys running, biking, travel, and spending time with her husband and two children.
