If you had 5 minutes with an inspirational woman leader what could you find out?

In celebration of International Women's Day and Women's History Month in the U.S., BNY Mellon's executives share their career insights and perspectives on their journey to the corner office. These dedicated leader-coaches share many common traits and values, reflecting how BNY Mellon has become the Investments Company for the World.

Today, Jean Wynn shares the five things I would tell my 21-year-old self if I were just getting started:

  1. Set ambitious goals — stretch yourself.
  2. Work for people you admire and can learn from. Once you stop learning, it is time to move.
  3. Be confident, you have more to offer than you think.
  4. Express your point of view. This leads to visibility and credibility.
  5. Lead, no matter what level you are. Your passion and positive attitude will inspire others and work will be fulfilling and fun!
