Solve for Tomorrow Students Discuss Vertical Farming on The Weather Channel

The Weather Channel’s Weather Underground has featured students of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy (NWPCA), who showcased their winning Solve for Tomorrow project: a vertical farming method that provides fresh produce in urban communities.

Each year, the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest aims to raise enthusiasm in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects by encouraging teachers and students to solve issues in their communities. “I actually was not considering [a career] in engineering at first,” said Madison Heeter of NWPCA. “However, Samsung Solve [for Tomorrow] really changed my outlook on engineering. After this project, I realized that you can actually use engineering to help people and make a difference in the community.”
