Source Intelligence Working with CFSI for More Ethical Sourcing Solutions

Source Intelligence, the first vendor member of the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI), is quickly working with the organization to further enhance and expand solutions for global businesses concerned about removing all known and potential conflict minerals in their supply chains.

Source Intelligence is actively participating in CFSI’s annual meeting in Santa Clara, which ends on Nov. 10. Attendees are expected to address successes to date, emerging ethical sourcing issues and more. The CFSI conference runs in tandem with the annual Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) “Responsible Electronics” conference.

One issue expected to be discussed at this week’s conferences is whether to add cobalt to the list of minerals under mandatory regulation and monitoring.  Recent reports by the news media and human rights organizations have highlighted the use of forced labor and child labor in rogue African cobalt mines. Cobalt is a key ingredient for lithium batteries, which are used in everything from cell phones to electric vehicles.  

Source Intelligence, whose foundation was built on an SaaS platform for conflict minerals tracing and verification, is now a one-stop solution for a range of responsible-sourcing needs covering anti-corruption, modern-day slavery, restricted substances, palm oil and more.  SI will be working with its customers and with CFSI to develop solutions for future needs, including cobalt.
