With more than 25 years of stories to tell, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption hit the road to highlight some of the families who have adopted through our signature Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program.

Today we’re sharing behind the scenes shots from our visit with the Brydges family and even brought along a special guest, their Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter Rachel Adler.

Since 2004, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has been finding adoptive homes for children waiting in foster care. The Foundation’s signature program, Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, provides funding to adoption agencies throughout the United States and Canada to hire specially-trained adoption recruiters who find loving, permanent families for children who are most in danger of aging out of the foster care system.

The Brydges family adopted two brothers from foster care and from day one, mom, Robbin says she knew it was meant to be. The first time they met was in the parking lot of a store and all she knew was that the boys loved super heroes. Robbin had her nails done with super hero icons so they’d have something to talk about immediately.

Dawson and Dalton connected with Robbin and her husband and today the four of them are a family of laughter and smiles. Wendy’s Wonderful Kids recruiter Rachel Adler worked hard to keep the brothers together. Too often siblings are separated in foster care, and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption works to keep that from happening whenever possible.

After spending a day with this family, it’s easy to see the pride that radiates from all of them when they talk about each other. Each night Dawson prays that other children like him will also find loving parents and he proudly tells everyone he is adopted!

The Brydges are just one of more than 6,200 families that have been created through foster care adoption and the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program. There are more than 110,000 children still waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States.

Right now the Foundation is in the process of expanding this remarkable program. If you’d like to help us find more adoptive homes for children like Dawson and Dalton, please consider making a donation on our website, by clicking here.
