Bob Massie on Integrated Reporting: From Concept to Reality
GE’s Citizenship team invited Bob Massie, co-founder of the Global Reporting Initiative, to contribute an Expert Perspective on integrated reporting, which merges traditional financial reporting with sustainability reporting. As a member of the International Integrated Reporting Committee Working Group, Massie provides a first-hand account of the current status and future trajectory of integrated reporting, and also weighs in with his opinions about the significance and implications of the emerging practice.
“Not only would [integrated reporting] streamline efforts; it would also spur a fundamental rethinking of how we define our economic life—starting with the definition of capital,” Massie states in a discussion with GE. “Is capital just financial, or does it also encompass the natural, social, intellectual and other realms?”
