#DardenDigest: Simplifying Sustainability
Sustainability is a fancy term for a simple concept - thinking about tomorrow as much as today. Here at Darden, we refer to our environmental efforts as People, Planet and Plate, built off the “People, Planet, Profit” phrase coined by John Elkington in 1994. Coca-Cola focuses their efforts on Women, Water and Well-Being. Many companies are using consumer-friendly language to make a complicated subject simpler and more memorable, illustrating how sustainability is no longer a concept for scientists or green-minded consumers. What has been the result? Consumers are becoming more and more interested in sustainability efforts and adjusting their buying habits accordingly.
