Greater Houston LGBT Chamber Recognizes Comcast With Pride in Business Award

The Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce held its signature event, Pride In Business, to celebrate Pride Month and the Chamber’s five year anniversary, as well as launch the Pride In Business Awards. This annual event is a unique opportunity to celebrate the important role of LGBTQ+ and Allied businesses in the Greater Houston economy.

The Pride In Business Awards recognizes the contributions made by Chamber members, Corporate Partners and other key stakeholders in building a more diverse and inclusive business community in Houston and the region. Comcast was recognized as the Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce inaugural 2021 Pride In Business Corporate Partner of the Year.

“The Chamber is proud to recognize Comcast as the inaugural 2021 Pride In Business Corporate Partner of the Year,” shared Tammi Wallace, Co-Founder, President, & CEO, Greater Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce. “As an inaugural Corporate Partner, Comcast has been involved with the Chamber since year one and the support has been pivotal to our success over the past five years. The company has been a strong champion for the Chamber and our mission focused on LGBTQ+ economic inclusion. Comcast has been a tremendous partner including collaborating with the Chamber on the Comcast RISE program to support people of color business owners and help them during the pandemic. Through our work together over the past five years, Comcast has truly exemplified what it means to be a ‘partner” in ‘Corporate Partner’. We look forward to our work together to drive economic inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community over the next five years and beyond.”

The Pride In Business event was emceed by Melanie Lawson, Anchor with ABC-13. The event included a “fireside chat” with keynote speaker, Louis A. Vega, President, North America, Vice President, Government Affairs and Advocacy, North America for Dow. Other special guests included Mayor Sylvester Turner, Mayor of the City of Houston, and Justin Nelson, Co-Founder and President of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). The virtual event included the launch of the Pride In Business Awards.
