On Thursday, we expressed our gratitude to a number of crewmember veterans, special invited guests and other veteran supporters with a special flight on our Vets in Blue aircraft which is dedicated to service members. The flight departed JFK for Dayton, Ohio for a trip to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (NMUSAF).

The all veteran-crewed aircraft set out from JFK Airport with a water cannon salute and celebrated all branches of the armed forces and representatives across all service periods. Boarding was in order of conflict/period served and, in a somber moment, as our guests boarded, they observed an empty seat draped with a POW MIA flag in honor of prisoners of war and missing in action veterans.

We were also joined by a number of our veteran-support partners, including the USO, Operation Gratitude and Hiring America. Operation Gratitude showcased their work by sharing care packages with our guest veterans to use or donate. And in line with our JetBlue For Good  education and STEM focus, we made a donation to the NMUSAF’s aerospace camp program.

This was our third Honoring Our Heroes Veterans Day flight. Previous trips provided opportunities for veterans to visit the National World War II Museum in New Orleans and the national monuments in Washington, D.C.  Supporting veterans is a year-round affair at JetBlue. Our ‘Vets in Blue’ program focuses on helping veterans  through recruitment, networking events and mentor programs.

To all who have service – thank you for your service!
