We’ve been all over the country in the past few months to attend some amazing conferences (ACCPGMN) but we were excited to be able to attend one just a few miles away – Council on Foundations (CoF) Annual Meeting in San Francisco from April 24 to 28.

One of my favorite sessions was The Value of Corporate Social Investments: Defining, Measuring and Reporting Part 2. Together, Douglas Sabo from Visa, Kimberly Almeida from Levi Strauss Foundation, Ezra Garrett from PG&E Corporation and David Porges from Deloitte discussed measuring impact for corporate giving programs. It’s clear that funders, foundations and grantmakers see the potential of using data to inform and engage their communities. In other words, measuring and reporting demonstrates their impact, so it’s a priority for many organizations that aren’t doing it already. Several attendees, such as Wendy Hawkins, the Executive Director of the Intel Foundation, weighed in on impact and giving topics during the session, providing even more nuance and value to the discussion.
