Following the release of its 2030 ambitions last year to halve its environmental impact, Kimberly-Clark improved its ranking to 34th on Barron’s 2021 list of 100 Most Sustainable Companies.

“Our ambition to make lives better for people around the world with the smallest footprint puts consumers, people, and planet at the heart of our organizational purpose,” said Lisa Morden, vice president of safety, sustainability, and occupational health. “We know that to deliver the greatest impact during this decisive decade, we must continue to integrate environmental, social, and governance best practices into our operating model. We are proud to be recognized as one of Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies for the second year in a row.”

Released earlier this week, the list is compiled by Barron’s in collaboration with Calvert Research and Management based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance by the 1,000 largest U.S. publicly traded companies by market value. Calvert analyzes how companies perform for five key constituencies, including shareholders; employees; customers; community; and planet, and determines rankings based on 230 ESG performance indicators.

Kimberly-Clark announced last July its ambition to address the social and environmental challenges of the next decade by focusing on areas where it can make the most impact. The company aims to advance the well-being of 1 billion people in vulnerable and underserved communities around the world by 2030 while reducing its environmental footprint by half.
