Kohler Believing In Better Blog

As part of our evolving partnership with the Yellowstone Park Foundation, one of the world’s oldest national parks now features high-efficiency KOHLER® fixtures in its historic Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. More than 9,000 gallons of water are saved each day, and that’s just the start.   Yellowstone has a goal of reducing its water usage 20 percent by 2016, even though its location at the headwaters of three rivers means it’s in no shortage of water. It’s striving to be a sustainability model for its fellow national parks and a conservation educator for its 3.5 million visitors each year.   “The partnership between Yellowstone and Kohler serves as a model for advancing sustainable initiatives in our national parks,” said Jim Evanoff, retired Yellowstone Park Ranger, who does consulting work for YPF and has been involved with the Kohler partnership since its inception.   Most recently, our donation of water-efficient fixtures to Old Faithful Haynes Photo Shop helped it attain LEED GOLD certification, rare for an historic building.   We want to do our part, in the area we know best. After all, we believe that each gallon of water saved is more than just a drop in the bucket.
