"I joined the Amgen Teach Program because I like opportunities to get for networking with other teachers and I like the hands-on approach.

In the teachers workshop I have participated we did a lot of inquiry based learning and it gave me a lot courage to use it in my classroom

Amgen Teach encouraged me a lot to work with the inquiry based learning and to try a variety of different things that I would like also to try out in the classroom.

I tried to play with them a historical experiment about the discovery of oxygen and carbon dioxide and my students really like that.

I also tried an experiment with my very young students and I wanted to show them how a diaper is working and I made them opened a diaper and let them examine how the liquid is absorbed inside. So you have two parts in a diaper which is silos and super absorbent substance. There's a very low amount of the substance inside. We students were super excited to see how much fluid is caught inside.

Teachers can really get out of the Amgen Teach Program:

  • many opportunity to network with teachers from other countries so you have lots of input from other places and also

  • there's a variety of different hands-on approaches you can learn from."
