Here’s something to think about next time you’re buying your favorite food or beverage. Many products offer multiple packaging options. But, have you considered which packaging is best to use? Best for you? Best for recycling? Best for the planet?

Glass is the packaging option you can feel good about! Glass is pure and natural, which means everything tastes better.

Glass is the kindest packaging option, and it is made by nature. In fact, glass is so natura, a lightning strike on a beach can create glass. That’s how pure glass is.

And, glass can be reused, refilled or recycled. Glass is infinitely recyclable. This means your recycled bottle will go on to become a new bottle.

On average, every bottle or jar that O-I manufactures contains 38 percent recycled glass. And, O-I is taking a tailored approach to increase recycled content across the company with a goal to increase recycled content to a 50 percent average by 2030.

By using recycled glass, O-I reduces the amount of raw material needed to make new glass. A single kg of recycled glass replaces 1.2 kg of virgin raw materials. Using recycled glass also reduces carbon emissions. Every 10 percent of recycled glass reduces emissions by 5 percent.

Recycling glass also reduces energy. Every 10 percent of recycled glass generates an energy savings of approximately 3 percent. The energy saved by recycling a single bottle could light a 15-watt, low-energy light bulb for 24 hours.

Glass should be the clear choice for packaging your favorite food and beverages. You have a choice. #ChooseGlass
