ON Semiconductor’s Lana Hall, senior program manager for corporate social responsibility (CSR), was selected to participate in Arizona Forward’s 2020-21 Emerging Sustainability Leaders Program. Arizona Forward is Arizona’s leading sustainability nonprofit organization. With over 50 years of experience, its 150+ member organizations share a common goal of preserving balance between responsible growth, environmental quality and long-term sustainability.

Participants are chosen for their commitment to sustainability; capacity to integrate sustainability into their organization; interest in being a long-term influencer in Arizona’s sustainability initiatives; and the capacity to take on new challenges. The selection process also considered a balance of government, nonprofit and business organizations.

This year’s program leaders will develop a broad awareness and understanding of the social, environmental, ethical and economic challenges of sustainability as well as opportunities facing Arizona. They will cultivate the ability to drive business leadership to achieve real systems change and acquire the knowledge, experience and skills to critically evaluate a range of strategic levers for change.

As senior program manager for the CSR team, Lana oversees social investment and sustainable projects that are significant to the reputation of ON Semiconductor, such as the assisting in the recognition of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the second year in a row. Lana has been instrumental in receiving several sustainability awards for the company. From presenting on CSR transparency at a conference in Seoul, Korea to introducing small-impact changes, Lana leads by example. She earned her Sustainable Master of Business Administration from Unity College and a Bachelor of Science in conservation biology from Arizona State University. Lana is a long-time volunteer with an animal rescue. Native to Yuma, Arizona, Lana is an avid explorer of her beautiful state with her two pitbulls, a lover of live music at local venues and advocates and the person who convinces her friends to start composting. Lana is excited to be surrounded by like-minded individuals that are passionate about sustainability and working towards enhancing and improving Arizona for the generations to come.

“I am honored to represent ON Semiconductor as one of the members of Arizona Forward’s 2020-21 Emerging Sustainability Leaders Program. Thank you to Theresa Haywood-McCarley for nominating me! Through this program, I hope to gain a stronger skill set to drive sustainability not only at work, but also at home and in my community to create a more resilient future for the generations to come.” – Lana Hall

This year, the Emerging Sustainability Leaders Program is sponsored by Arizona Public Service (APS).

“This Arizona Forward program builds a greater understanding of our state’s complex challenges and unique opportunities while encouraging innovative thinking and solutions to help secure a sustainable, resilient future. As a founding member of Arizona Forward, APS is pleased to support the development of our state’s emerging leaders.” – Barbara Lockwood, senior vice president of public policy at Arizona Public Service

The third annual Arizona Forward Emerging Sustainability Leaders Program will introduce participants to concepts of sustainability and demonstrates sustainability in real-world practice. All candidates for this program were nominated by established leaders in Arizona.

“This leadership program is an opportunity for Lana and ON Semiconductor to become visible in Arizona’s sustainability initiatives as well as helping the company make an impact in the community. Recognition in this area is good for ON Semiconductor as other Arizona-based companies will know we have a growing emphasis in this area. Not in word only but through her practices Lana has an active passion for sustainability which makes her a great participant in this program.” – Theresa Haywood-McCarley, senior director of corporate social responsibility at ON Semiconductor

Arizona Forward priorities influence long-term change in areas such as forest health, climate action, restoration of urban waterways; mobility and clean air solutions; a sustainable water future and building healthy communities. Emerging Sustainability Leaders Program participants will learn from experts throughout the state about how these and other priorities can achieve a balance between the economy and the environment and ensure the quality of life and the health of residents.

“Developing a new generation of leaders who are focused on carrying the torch for sustainability is critical for Arizona’s future. Arizona Forward seeks to ensure sustainability remains a focus for the long-term, by building leaders prepared to act and create positive change for decades to come.” – Lori Singleton, president and CEO of Arizona Forward
