Pink Pits, Bedazzled Bras and Recycled Cards to Raise Money for the American Cancer Society in October

Pink is everywhere, shirts, shoes, water bottles, etc. all in the name of Breast Cancer Awareness. However, thanks to the support of Caesars Entertainment, it will appear in places and in ways you would never expect; everywhere from poker tables to Battle of the Bra fashion show auctions across North America. This marks Caesars Entertainment’s second year seeking to raise awareness of preventative health and treatment of breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“Breast cancer has a profound affect on everyone it touches, including the family, friends and colleagues of the person diagnosed,” said Jan Jones Blackhurst, executive vice president of communications and government relations at Caesars Entertainment. “As a company of nearly 70,000 employees, we are committed to raising awareness of preventive health care and encouraging behaviors that lead to improved health and wellness for our employees and the communities we serve.”

Dubbed the “pink pits” more than 40 of Caesars Entertainment’s casino poker pits will blush with pink table felts featuring the iconic awareness ribbon. Additionally, resort casinos will be hosting a number of promotions and retail a number of items such as pink cupcakes, pink branded baseball caps, etc. to elevate this important issue among its guests.

Cancer research has made great strides during the past ten years but there is still much to do in terms of prevention, detection and treatment, said Thom Reilly, executive director of Caesars Foundation. Through our charitable giving to cancer-related organization we hope to be a part of the solution and a catalyst for change.

Employees are also getting in on the action as they proudly wear pink ribbons fashioned from recycled playing cards and participate in property events like Battle of the Bras. The Battle of the Bras competition is the showpiece for many properties’ month-long initiative to raise awareness of preventative health and treatment of breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The fashion show is comprised of bras designed with beads, poker chips, lights, sequins, boa feathers, and words of inspiration, etc. by employees, entertainment headliners and local media. These uniquely hand-crafted designs will then be strutted, shimmied and worn with pride down runways where employees and guests will vote and bid on their favorites. Proceeds will go to benefit a local cancer-fighting organization.

To date, Caesars Entertainment Corporation, its properties, and the Caesars Foundation have contributed more than $3.5 million to cancer-related organizations through cash and in-kind donations.
