Republic Services: Communities

Feb 23, 2017 11:00 AM ET

Serving Republic’s 14 million customers goes beyond handling their recycling and waste needs. Service is about being a Good Neighbor to the communities where we live, work and raise families. Whether Republic employees are volunteering or donating their time or resources, their willingness to give back is yet another way they make a difference in the community.

Community Education
There is no better place to start recycling education than in schools. That is why Republic is committed to educating children and young adults on the importance of recycling. But education goes beyond the classroom. To be a true partner, Republic provides their communities with opportunities to learn more about the impact of recycling. Whether it is through community events, such as recycling drives, or providing tours of their recycling centers, engaging their communities is critical to protecting our Blue Planettm.

In Las Vegas, The Mirage Hotel & Casino invited Republic Services to collaborate on a recycling exhibit inside their Sustainability Discovery Center at Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. The exhibit informs visitors of all ages about the recycling process and provides practical tips on ways to become a better recycler in everyday life. Republic also works behind the scenes at many of the MGM Resorts, including The Mirage Hotel & Casino, on recycling operations.
