In an effort to ‘reuse and recycle’ excess inventory following a complete hotel renovation in 2015 and 2016, Sands Bethlehem hosted its third annual Team Member art sale.  For one day, Sands Bethlehem Team Members were able to purchase the art pieces at discounted prices.

“We found ourselves with stock rooms full of art pieces and vanity sets,” said Susan Stachowski, Community Relations Coordinator. “Sending it to landfill didn’t make sense.  For $20, Team Members could walk away with a massive 40 inch frame.  We sold around 450 pieces.  It was a very successful event.”

The event raised $2,000 and all proceeds were donated to the Adelson Drug Clinic in Las Vegas, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to treating the disease of opiate addiction.  Any items not sold were donated to Habitat for Humanity and Via of the Lehigh Valley, a nonprofit agency that provides services for children and adults with disabilities like autism, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome.

“The event benefitted everyone,” said Stachowski. “We were able to recycle inventory and Team Members were able to purchase beautiful artwork at great prices.”

Through Sands Cares, Las Vegas Sands’ corporate giving program, the company’s goal is to make the communities in which it operates better places to live through philanthropic giving, volunteerism and other in-kind support for local organizations.  Through the company’s sustainability program, Sands ECO360, the company is always looking for ways to reduce its environmental impact by implementing sustainable practices and procedures to eliminate waste within the properties.
