Strategic Sustainability Planning: How Will You Weather 2011?

As winter grips much of the Northern Hemisphere, many are taking  shelter in our homes.  For those brave souls who do venture out, the right clothing and resources will be essential to survival.  In a similar fashion, businesses peaking around the corner of year’s end continue to prescribe to action or inaction in response to a still turbulent fourth quarter.  

Entering the New Year, several questions are left unanswered: Will the first quarter see brighter days?  Is shelter best inside or is braving the world outside a better place to be?  Will the protective business sustainability strategies for those stepping into the breach still be necessary?   The negative economic downpour of the past few years continues to guide business executives to take one of two strategies: sheltered inside waiting out the storm or face the elements armed with the proper resources.  Going into the New Year, a new business sustainability strategy may be emerging.    As a business sustainability consultant characterized with a sunny disposition, I suggest the time to reevaluate the burdens of protection may be right now.  Placing cost and risk mitigation strategies aside, business executives have the opportunity to focus on the value  and growth opportunity of the brighter days ahead.  Click here to continue reading.
