Bombardier Listed on Newsweek Green Rankings 2012

October 31, 2012 /3BL Media/ - For the first time, Bombardier has been listed among the Newsweek Green Rankings 2012, a cross-sectoral, environmental ranking of the 500 largest publicly traded companies in the world. Bombardier is ranked 89 out of the 500 companies, and third within its sector, Aerospace and Defence, comprised of 12 companies. Bombardier’s overall green score was 68.8,  while the highest score in the sector was 70.

Few things can be as ironic as the breakfast buffet at a sustainability conference.  You’ll seepaper coffee cups, plastic forks, and too much food.  If the organizers really cared about our welfare (and that of our planet), maybe they should cut down on the number of eggs, eliminate the heavily sugared pastries, and rethink that mound of fried bacon?  How about also using some cloth napkins and china plates?

Like it or not, genetically engineered foods make up a significant portion of our nation’s food supply. Approximately ninety-three percent of all U.S. soy and canola and eighty-six percent of our corn are genetically modified. There are informed positions on both sides of the debate around genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, pertaining to the health and long-term safety of these food products. But many assert that as long as this debate still rages, consumers deserve to know whether they’re eating and serving foods that have been genetically modified.
