The number of overweight or obese children has reached worrying levels, including in early childhood. In the UK, for example, more than a third of children are overweight or obese. These children are likely to remain obese into their adult life, with a higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases at a younger age.
New European exercise craze integrated into a health app for first time, with support from Keep America Beautiful
STAMFORD, Conn.,February 15, 2018 /3BL Media/ - Lifesum, has become the first health app to allow its users (25 million internationally) to log and track ‘plogging’: an emerging environmentally conscious exercise craze from Scandinavia in which people integrate the collection of litter within their jogging workout. The move has been supported by Keep America Beautiful, which has served as the nation’s nonprofit steward of litter prevention for more than six decades.
Shelby Dickes is a senior at Iowa State University and a Smithfield Foundation scholarship recipient. She is studying athletic training and plans to study dietetics in graduate school. Shelby plans to be a college athletic trainer and ultimately plans to work with Olympic wrestlers.
Since its inception, the Smithfield Foundation has been proud to provide educational scholarships to the dependent children and grandchildren of full-time and retired employees. To date, the Smithfield Foundation has awarded over 650 annual scholarships worth more than $4 million.
The brightest night in the city once again raised a total of more than $100,000 for communities in Honduras, Nicaragua and Dominican Republic. The Glow Run, a 5k run and fundraising event, united more than 12,000 Gildan employees and their families at the end of 2017 to celebrate a night of physical activity and entertainment in support of their communities.
