Aramark connected with the American Heart Association’s Linda Van Horn, a Registered Dietician and Professor of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, who recommended six simple strategies to help kids jump into back-to-school mode, with habits that will help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Republic Services recently supported the fourth annual “Childrenz Challenge”, founded by Scott Vitale in 2013, held at the Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn, MI. The mud-filled 20 obstacle course was designed for children ages 4-13. This year’s course, with the help of Republic Services, featured a 36 foot-long water slide that sent participants into a puddle of mud to cap off the course. Over 2,300 kids ran the course this year. The idea for the event is to inspire and encourage kids to overcome challenges, build confidence and build their self-esteem.

The combined impact of our $10,000 Fund partners, runners, Whole Foods Market® Team Members, virtual runners and more, this year added up to $140,000 raised for impoverished women all over the world to start their own businesses. That equals about 748 average first microloans! Our team was thrilled to celebrate the second year of the Virtual 10K Run, adding a fun run in Austin, Texas and partnering with our sponsors to create excitement in cities all over the USA.
Nearly 100 members of Arrow Electronics’ Denver-based global business-operations team joined forces with the nonprofit organization Wish for Wheels last month to build 25 bikes for low-income children, just in time for the start of the new school year.
