There’s a green shift happening in the workplace as sustainability- and conservation-focused jobs grow across all sectors. Pathways to these positions are constantly evolving, though, and it can be daunting for students to map out their career paths.
So the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) is helping to educate and engage young people interested in sustainability jobs. Ahead of NWF’s EcoCareers Conference, here are four steps students can take to help get that dream green job.

Into the Wild: An Immersive Virtual Adventure, is the latest permanent development at Marina Bay Sands’ ArtScience Museum in Singapore. The virtual reality adventure transforms nearly 11,000 square feet into a virtual rainforest, which can be explored using one’s smartphone device. The exhibition is made by ArtScience Museum, Google, Lenovo, and World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), in association with Panasonic and Qualcomm, working with the creative talents of MediaMonks and Singaporean artist, Brian Gothong Tan.
Members of Arrow Electronics’ “Young Professionals” group recently volunteered with The GrowHaus, a Denver-area nonprofit indoor farm, community marketplace and educational center.
The 25 Arrow volunteers helped to pack food bags that would be donated to local families in need, and they also washed, chopped and boxed pallets of lettuce, mushrooms, seasonal produce and eggs for distribution to local markets and stores.
