In 2017 ScottsMiracle-Gro once again saw strong participation in its LiveTotal Health wellness program by associates and their families. Our company established this program in 2005 to support our associates’ physical, financial and personal well-being. Throughout the year, associates access a range of benefits including preventive health screening, investment education and healthy living events like step challenges.
Most people know Republic Services for the big blue trucks that collect trash throughout their neighborhood. But we don’t just deliver garbage to the local landfill, we also work to keep some things out – such as perfectly edible food.
Supermarkets and restaurants often are left with food that’s beyond the “sell by” date but is still safe for consumption. At the same time, hunger is at epidemic proportions in the U.S., affecting one in six Americans.
So our team got to thinking . . . how could we help get that extra food to those in need?

PepsiCo will fund startups to learn how they do business and stay on top of the hottest food trends.
The company announced on Thursday that it is launching a North American accelerator program to help food and beverage startups grow.
The six-month program, Nutrition Greenhouse, gives ten startups $20,000 each and matches them with a mentor from Pepsi. The mentors will offer guidance on strategy, fundraising, product development, supply chain management and more.
At the end of the program, a winner will receive an additional $100,000.
