Foundation-Funded Program Equips Students to Preserve Long Island’s Water Resources

ScottsMiracle-Gro is deeply invested in the future of Long Island and its water resources. The Long Island Water Education Program, run by the North Shore Land Alliance and funded by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation, connects area students with the water resources under their feet. Through in-class STEM education and hands-on field learning, middle-years students learn about Long Island’s sole source aquifer and how their actions can affect water resources. They build mini-models of the aquifer and begin to understand the link between conserving land and protecting water.

Joanna Geraghty said being the highest-ranking woman in the airline industry is humbling, but also frustrating.

"It shouldn't be that way in 2018," said Geraghty, JetBlue's president and chief operating officer. "There should be many more in this space ranked even higher than me."

JetBlue teamed up with the Utah STEM Action Center and Atlantic Aviation Friday to teach girls about careers in flight, especially those relying on science, technology, engineering and math.

SUMMIT TWP., MI -- The 30th season of the FIRST Tech Challenge has been announced and Jackson County middle schoolers were at Jackson College on Saturday to brainstorm and strategize.

Focusing on the upcoming 50th anniversary of the lunar landing, this year's challenge is a "Rover Ruckus."
