Herbalife Nutrition, announced the allocation of more than $333,000 to World Food Program USA in support of the United Nations World Food Programme’s emergency response efforts in Guatemala. As part of Herbalife Nutrition’s Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative, these funds will focus on food assistance, resilience-building and capacity-strengthening efforts in the wake of Hurricane Eta’s widespread damage to the region.

Kellogg’s donation is part of a “Feed the Love” campaign, which is being promoted across Albertsons stores during the month of February. Like Kellogg, Albertsons Cos. is committed to the continued fight against hunger through its foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors initiative which is working to eradicate hunger in America.
As quarantines and stay-at-home orders put people out of work and closed schools in the first few months of 2020, food banks around the world began to see a dramatic increase in need for food. International Paper, a leading producer of fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper, quickly responded with a commitment to donate two million corrugated boxes to food banks in its communities. As the year drew to a close, team members in the company's Anaheim, Ca. box plant produced the final 5,000 boxes of their commitment.
Despite decades of progress in reducing hunger, the trend has reversed, and the world is not on track to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger by 2030. According to a 2020 United Nations report, nearly 690 million people—60 million more than in 2015 and an estimated 8.9 percent of the world’s total population—are hungry.

People can call, text or email 211 across the country to find support for housing and utility assistance and other social services. In 2019, the service’s representatives answered nearly 12 million calls. Because of the pandemic, the agency expects that number to double in 2020.
