Following the earthquake in January 2010, UPS Sales Director Craig Arnold and many other UPS employees went to Haiti and worked in local communities to distribute supplies and establish basic services. As a Salvation Army local board member, Craig had previously volunteered in Haiti before the earthquake, making him familiar with the people and culture.

Forum with Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies Taking Place January 14

First let me get this out of the way: I’m a finance guy, I’ve always done finance, my first job was working in micro-finance and perhaps I’m biased, but my long history making deals in what is now known as "impact investing" has given me the well-earned practical experience that impact investing works to make real positive change in the world.  But rather than bore you to death by rehashing my bio, I would like to address the fundamental question behind our mission here at Mission Markets: "Why is impact investing important?"

One of the absolute worst greenwashing offenders are janitorial services.  They are not alone in this misdirection because greenwashing is popular in many businesses.  There has been no way to establish a metric or measurement for Green in nearly any business.  How many companies have installed CFL bulbs and advertised the next day that they have “Gone Green”?   Yet, janitorial services have resisted the extra effort (and cost) of Green certification because they believe the no business is asking for Green vendors.
