Campaign: Action Team

As the holiday season unfolds, hundreds of Action Team Captains around the country continue to touch lives around them through their selfless giving—and they’re having fun doing it!

In Maine, Brunswick High School Action Team Captains brought the holiday cheer to local residents of Volunteers of America’s (VOA) Bayview House and Westrum House. Together, they made dinner for the residents and joined in singing Christmas Carols with their school’s chorus. Both holiday dinners brightened the spirits of the housing residents. Florence, a resident of VOA’s Bayview House expressed her gratitude for Brunswick Action Team Captains when she said, “I’m 92, and I’m glad I lived to see this. The kids are so great together. They show affection and support for each other. And they shower us with love. It gives you hope for the future.”

Over Thanksgiving break, Action Team Captains from Cypress Bay High School in Florida visited the Ronald McDonald House and helped out with the Thanksgiving Dinner dedicated for families with children in the hospital. They helped prepare the dinner and were able to make lasting memories and brighten the day for the patients and their parents.

To help families prepare for the cold winter approaching, Action Team Ambassador Daelyn Mynes assisted the Wyoming Valley Habitat for Humanity with some of their new home projects. She joined other volunteers in cleaning and installing insulation for several new homes under construction.

Action Team Captains from HB Woodlawn and St. Stephens & St. Agnes in Virginia participated in a food distribution event at Arlington Food Assistance Center. Together the Action Team Captains helped sort and package the food to be delivered to those in need in the VA/DC area.

HB Woodlawn Action Team Captains also visited their friends at a local group home for the intellectually disabled where they joined them in creating homemade Christmas tree decorations out of simple items like colored paper, crayons and markers. Together they created paper chains to decorate around the home’s Christmas tree.

As you just read,Action Team Captains everywhere are delivering smiles and joy to people’s lives, both young and old, this holiday season. Through their selfless acts of kindness, they are inspiring others around the world to do the same. Keep in mind that Action Teams deliver similar deeds throughout the year, and enrollment in the Action Team never ends.
