After 40 years of hunger relief efforts in Bhutan, the World Food Programme (WFP) is preparing to fully transition its School Feeding Program to that country’s government in 2018, a shift made possible in part by support from Yum! Australia’s World Hunger Relief program.

Yum! has been a key supporter of the WFP in Bhutan since 2010, donating more than one million dollars to feed children in over 200 schools. This crucial funding has helped facilitate a partnership between WFP and the Royal Government of Bhutan and ultimately enabled the organization to empower leaders to operate school feeding efforts independently.

"Since I was myself a WFP beneficiary once upon a time, I feel really obliged to ensure that the great work of the WFP is not lost," said Dungkar Drupka, Officer in Charge for Bhutan.

In the video below, Bhutan leaders describe their gratitude to the WFP for helping the country arrive at this point.
