Healthcare Policy Re-boot Proposed by Governors
As Congress prepares to reconvene next month, the prospect of more vitriolic partisan wrangling over the Affordable Care Act is causing angst to lawmakers, health insurance providers, and the public alike. Two state-level top executives are offering a bi-partisan solution to the current gridlock, outlined in an op-ed in the Washington Post. Governors John Hickenlooper (D-CO) and John Kasich (R-OH) have worked up a plan that will be distributed to other governors for their support, then submitted for debate at this fall’s Congressional hearings. Their blueprint rests on four bprinciples, one of which is to “develop innovative approaches.” As many businesses have learned, strategies that don’t start with a creative attitude toward business-as-usual are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Good luck to this fresh set of ideas.
