"10,000 Adventures" Initiative Promotes a Love of Reading with Gift of Books to Children at MetroWest YMCA

A unique collaboration between the nonprofit First Book and Middlesex Savings Bank will provide brand-new books to children enrolled in the MetroWest YMCA’s Schools Out program during the “10,000 Adventures” launch and reading celebration on October 1, 2015.

Employee volunteers from Middlesex Savings Bank will read aloud and provide participating children with new books to take home, courtesy of First Book and Middlesex Savings Bank. The event will celebrate Middlesex Savings Bank’s long-standing commitment to promoting a love of reading and literacy with a gift of more than 10,000 books to elementary and middle schools in Framingham, Maynard, Natick, and Westborough, Mass.  

The six schools receiving the books this fall are:

  • McCarthy Wilson Elementary, Framingham, Mass.  
  • Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Framingham, Mass.  
  • Green Meadow School, Maynard, Mass.  
  • Elsie A Hastings Elementary, Westborough, Mass.  
  • Armstrong Elementary, Westborough, Mass.  
  • Johnson Elementary, Natick, Mass. 

WHAT: Reading celebration and distribution of books to children from MetroWest YMCA’s Schools Out program.

WHO: First Book partners with Middlesex Savings Bank, and is joined by CBS Radio Boston and CBS EcoMedia to help distribute books and read aloud to children.
