Ahead of the Curve: Insights for the International NGO of the Future
January 7, 2014 /3BL Media/ - International NGOs (INGOs) stand at a critical juncture. Although they have a unique and important role to play in addressing critical global challenges, few INGOs are living up to their full potential.
What can INGOs do to improve their ability to face today's complex issues? Find out in Ahead of the Curve: Insights for the International NGO of the Future, a new FSG report that employs case studies, survey data, and practical recommendations to make the case for INGOs to play a new role in supporting global health and development.
You will learn about the disruptions INGOs face and how INGOs can transform the way they do business to create greater impact. The report highlights four approaches-- direct implementation, influencing systems change, harnessing the private sector, and leading multisector action -- that can be adopted by INGOs seeking better ways to tackle today's complex global challenges.
The authors also recommend key operational changes for INGOs, including improvements to organizational strategy, evaluation, and funding, which enable the adoption of these new approaches.
The research was based on more than 100 interviews with INGO executives, leading donors, academics, and practitioners; a survey of the largest U.S.-based INGOs; and focus groups with INGO executives and major donors.
