Anheuser-Busch InBev Hosts Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable

Industry Leaders Unite to Share Best Practices, Advance Environmental Sustainability of Sector

October 16, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Beverage industry leaders from across the globe are convening in St. Louis October 14-16 for the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) semi-annual meeting. BIER is a technical coalition of leading beverage companies working together to advance environmental sustainability within the beverage sector. Anheuser-Busch InBev, a founding member of BIER, is hosting the event that brings together representatives across beer, spirits, carbonated soft drinks, juice and bottled water categories. The three-day agenda focuses on BIER’s work to reduce resource consumption, mitigate impacts and ensure the sustainable continuity and future of the beverage sector.

Through the collective experience and knowledge of its membership, BIER collaborates to define the environmental sustainability aspects most relevant to the beverage sector. By doing so, BIER is able to monitor data and trends, engage with key stakeholders, develop best practices and guide a course of action for the future. Current BIER initiatives include defining context-based metrics for water use and efficiency benchmarking, developing energy assessment tools to help prioritize and mitigate climate change impacts across the beverage industry supply chain, and establishing better understanding of beverage container recycling rates worldwide.
