September 11, 2013 /3BL Media/ - GBCHealth today announced the opening of applications and nominations for its Business Action on Health Awards.

Every year, the awards recognize the world’s best corporate global health programs.

The 2014 Awards will be presented in May at the GBCHealth annual conference in New York City, providing visibility to winning companies for their health leadership.

GBCHealth, formerly the Global Business Coalition on HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria, is a coalition of 200 companies addressing the world’s most pressing global health problems.

Among the most prestigious honors in the field, the awards are judged by an independent panel of internationally-respected experts from the private, non-profit, multilateral and government sectors who rigorously review the applications.

The 2013 winners ranged from Levi Strauss & Co. for its program that provides HIV/AIDS education and services to 6,800 retail employees in 600 stores worldwide to ORTEC for a network of roadside clinics providing healthcare to truck drivers and communities that live along southern Africa’s major transport routes. Other winners were Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, GlaxoSmithKline, Hewlett-Packard Company, Novartis, Pfizer and Procter & Gamble. Read more about the 2013 winners.
