February 12, 2019 /3BL Media/ - The Arbor Day Foundation has named National Grid a Tree Line USA recipient for the 20th consecutive year in honor of the company’s commitment to proper tree pruning, planting and care across its U.S. service area.

Tree Line USA, a partnership between the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters, recognizes public and private utilities for pursuing tree-trimming practices that protect and enhance America's urban trees. Tree Line USA promotes the dual goals of delivering safe and reliable electricity while maintaining healthy community forests.  “Trees are a critical part of urban landscapes across the United States,” said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Service providers like National Grid demonstrate that it’s possible for trees and utilities to co-exist for the benefit of communities and citizens.”

National Grid earned Tree Line USA recognition by meeting five program standards:  following industry standards for quality tree care; providing annual worker training in best tree-care practices; sponsoring a tree-planting and public education program; maintaining a tree-based energy conservation program; and participating in an Arbor Day celebration.

“Twenty years of Tree Line USA recognition is a proud achievement for National Grid,” said Ken Daly, National Grid’s Chief Operating Officer - Electric. “We take a responsible, sustainable approach to lessening the impact trees have on our ability to deliver uninterrupted service to our customers. We also recognize that trees can be personal and very important parts of our customers’ lives so we set a very high standard for our forestry practices.” Visit www.arborday.org/TreeLineUSA for more information on Tree Line USA.
