OVERLAND PARK, Kan. November 23, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Reflecting the increasing convergence of diverse technology platforms and the design, engineering and construction of critical infrastructure systems, Christopher Murphy has joined Black & Veatch as Chief Technology Officer. Murphy, a former executive and expert at The Coca-Cola Company in harnessing disparate information technology (IT) environments to deliver optimal business value, will focus first on integrating hardware and software with Black & Veatch services to enhance client support.

As leader of Black & Veatch’s technology oversight team, Murphy will develop technology initiatives and align systems with Black & Veatch’s business strategy, integrating digital optimization and transformation efforts with the company’s broad portfolio of products and services.

Murphy has deep, results-driven experience in developing IT solution strategies, has aligned technologies across implementation teams and has furthered global business goals by challenging the status quo through creative approaches to technology planning.

“Chris’ expertise in focusing technology systems to deliver strong bottom-line results makes him uniquely qualified to lead our technology team,” said Irvin Bishop Jr., Black & Veatch’s Chief Information Officer. “As our clients and our industry adapt to an increasingly digital workforce, his expertise will be essential to driving the types of innovation that will propel our global growth strategies.”

Before joining Black & Veatch, Murphy served as a global IT leader for solutions architecture at The Coca-Cola Company from October 2011 through September 2019. In that role, Murphy guided the strategic design, architecture and implementation of critical products and projects developed by regional development centers for Marketing and Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability (PACS). Along the way, he led and influenced the strategy, roadmap, alignment, acquisition and consolidation of technologies and technical services used for tactical and strategic initiatives.

Prior to that, Murphy was an independent consultant at J3 Development Inc. for nearly seven years.

“It’s an honor to join a company that for more than a century has made a dramatic impact on lives around the world through its work in designing and building critical human infrastructure,” Murphy said. “I like to say that I’m strategic in deploying new technologies to gain traction and excitement across the organization, and I’m committed to working cross-functionally and nimbly to do just that at Black & Veatch.”

Since 2013, Murphy has served as Vice Chairman of the Harris-Murphy Youth Foundation, which he co-founded, in Stockbridge, Georgia.
