Montréal, January 30, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Bombardier announced today that for the first time, it has listed among the top 25 of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, an annual index released during the World Economic Forum in Davos by Toronto-based media and investment advisory company, Corporate Knights Inc. On the 2014 Global 100, Bombardier is the top ranking company in the Aerospace and Defense industry, is among the top three Capital Goods companies, and is the second highest ranking Canadian company on the index of a total of 13.

Bombardier achieved top performance on Innovation Capacity and superior performance on seven key indicators relative to peer companies in its sector, including carbon, water, and waste productivity, as well as in safety performance, among others.

As the most extensive data-driven corporate sustainability assessment in existence, the Global 100 is recognized as the gold standard in corporate sustainability analysis and ranking. From a base of the 4,000 largest companies in the world by market capitalization, inclusion on the index is limited to a select group of the top 100. Ranking is based on publicly-disclosed data, such as financial filings and sustainability reports. Inclusion in the index is determined using 12 quantitative sustainability indicators, including the amount of revenue companies generate per unit of energy consumption, the ratio of CEO to average worker salary and lost time injury rate. The Global 100 methodology for evaluating companies’ sustainability was cited as a leading global practice by London-based consultancy SustainAbility’s Rate the Raters research program, which evaluates corporate sustainability ratings.

The Global 100 index was launched February 1, 2005. From inception to December 31, 2013, it has delivered a total return of 91.01%, outperforming its benchmark, the MSCI All Country World Index, by 3.21%.

“This achievement is the direct result of the dedication of our employees, who continue to ensure sustainability is ingrained in the ethos of Bombardier,” said Daniel Desjardins, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee Chairman.

In September 2013, Bombardier was chosen as an index component in the Dow Jones Sustainability World index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North America index for the seventh consecutive year. In addition, for the second year, Bombardier was named Industry Leader within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
