Bombardier Among the Top 100 Employers in Canada

Oct 10, 2012 2:15 PM ET

MONTRÉAL, October 10, 2012 /3BL Media/ – Bombardier was named one of the 2013 Canada’s Top 100 Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc., in a Globe and Mail special editorial feature published today.

Bombardier was recognized “for its incredible range of career development opportunities at home and around the world – employing nearly 70,000 full-time employees worldwide and adding over 1,790 full-time employees in Canada alone last year.” Bombardier also “supports ongoing employee development through tuition subsidies for job-related courses as well as subsidies for professional accreditation, and in-house and online training programs.”

“As we shape the evolution of mobility, our employees lie at the heart of our category-leading planes and trains,” said Pierre Beaudoin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bombardier Inc. “At Bombardier, ensuring that our employees are highly trained, engaged and enabled, as well as healthy and safe, is a must for sustaining a dynamic workforce and a strong competitive advantage,” he added.

Employees are arguably Bombardier’s most important stakeholder group and key resource. With 70,000 employees in 40 countries around the world – including some 24,000 in Canada – Bombardier has taken decisive steps to transform how it manages this crucial stakeholder group in recent years, by harmonizing its people policies, programs, systems and tools. Investments in leadership and development training as well as wellness programs allow people to reach their highest potential while enhancing employee retention.

Over 3,250 Canadian employers in the competition provided a detailed review of their operations and human resources practices. Each company was graded on eight key areas: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

Now in its 13th year, the Canada’s Top 100 Employers competition is an editorial project organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., a specialty publisher of employment guides and periodicals.
