September 3, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Candelaria, a Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold company, joined the festivities marking the recent Chilean Indigenous New Year, providing a water well and water rights, electric generator and discharge pump to the nearby community of Colla Serranía Poblete.

The well and equipment will help ensure a critical water supply for the community’s agricultural activities.

Community representatives expressed their appreciation for the project by performing a ritual in honor of Pacha Mama, or Mother Earth, as part of the New Year celebrations.

Constructing the water well and providing this equipment reaffirms Freeport-McMoRan’s commitment to the development of the native people of Atacama.
