Carrier is starting its third Sustainability Symposium series this month, a program of one-day courses on emerging trends and technologies for sustainable, high-performance buildings. The symposium for consulting engineers, design-build contractors, and facility managers features Carrier’s Mobile Innovation Center, an 18-wheeler displaying the company’s sustainable products and energy service offerings.
CEMEX has announced the company’s progress in sustainable construction, carbon strategy, environmental and biodiversity management, workplace safety, and its contribution to affordable housing and infrastructure around the world. CEMEX now uses an alternative fuels rate of 25 percent in its cement operations, and is on track to reach 35 percent usage by 2015.
In 2011, Bank of America and its employees raised more than $35 million through the United Way campaign. In addition, bank employees volunteered 1.5 million hours. Now Bank of America is being recognized by United Way with two Summit Awards for volunteer engagement and community impact.
