Case Foundation, SixDegrees.org Launch One-Day Match Challenge
WASHINGTON, D.C., November 27, 2012 /3BL Media/ -
What: A one-day matching grant challenge to celebrate the inaugural #GivingTuesdayTM. The Case Foundation and SixDegrees.org, will match all donations made on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, through the CrowdRise campaign at http://www.crowdrise.com/givingtuesdaymatch (up to $35,000).
Founded by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, and supported by a host of companies and nonprofits, "#GivingTuesday™ is a national movement to add a day of charity and doing good to the lineup of national shopping days Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday."
“Giving Tuesday reflects our long-held belief at the Case Foundation that, taken together, many gifts of time and treasure (small and large) can change the world,” said Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation. “You can give a lot or a little to whatever organization or cause is close to your heart -- what matters is that you give, so we can send a message about what's truly important this holiday season, one gift at a time.”
“In a perfect world, every day would be Giving Tuesday,” remarked Kevin Bacon. “That’s the very spirit we champion at SixDegrees.org, a social network that makes it easy for you to support your favorite cause. It’s great to jump start the holiday season with a push towards generosity and to celebrate all the good in this small world.”
When: Tuesday, November 27th, 12:00 Midnight – 11:59pm eastern
Where: The Crowdrise campaign site for the Case Foundation and SixDegrees.org #GivingTuesday Match Challenge: http://www.crowdrise.com/givingtuesdaymatch.

CrowdRise is a fundraising site dedicated to the idea that raising money for charity and giving back has got to be fun. The site lets anyone turn their friends into an active base of donors for any cause. CrowdRise was founded by actor and activist Edward Norton, producer Shauna Robertson, and the founders of Moosejaw, Robert and Jeffro Wolfe. Thousands of charitable organizations, events, celebrities and every day donors have made CrowdRise their philanthropic base for giving back. www.crowdrise.com
SixDegrees.org taps into the small world phenomenon to accomplish something good: it's social networking with a social conscience. Kevin Bacon started SixDegrees.org in collaboration with Network for Good (www.networkforgood.org) in January 2007, more than 10 years after the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game made the rounds of college campuses. Through this web site, you can support your favorite charities by donating or creating a social fundraiser — as well as check out the favorite causes of other people, including celebrities. You can also pay it forward with Good Cards® - gift cards for charity that can be redeemed as a donation to more than 1 million charities. To date, the site has attracted over a million visitors and 8,500 people have created fundraisers. Those people have recruited tens of thousands of additional people to support their causes totaling more than $5 million in donations to over 1,500 charities (many of them small) -- an impressive grassroots ripple effect of awareness. www.SixDegrees.org
