Case IH Donates Life-Saving Medical Equipment to Ethiopian Ministry of Health
Case IH has made a donation of four ventilators and associated equipment to be used in hospitals in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The equipment is greatly needed in the fight to save lives as the country battles the COVID-19 pandemic.
February 19, 2021 /3BL Media/ - While the brand is known around the world for its industry-leading agricultural machinery, Case IH, a global agricultural brand of CNH Industrial N.V., has made a donation of equipment of a different kind—potentially life-saving medical equipment—to the Ministry of Health in Ethiopia.
Four ventilators, suitable for both adults and children, and a set of associated accessories, were handed over to the Ethiopian Ministry of Health this week by representatives of Case IH and the brand’s Ethiopian distributor, Wereta International Business PLC.
The donation includes installation and training for the equipment which is much needed in Ethiopia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this donation only 41 ventilators were available in all of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, which is home to approximately five million people.
The donation is part of CNH Industrial’s $2 million global Solidarity Fund initiative, which supports communities impacted by COVID-19 in countries in which the Company does business.
Marcin Ruppert, Case IH Marketing Manager for Africa and Middle East, attended the equipment handover. “We’re very proud to support local communities in these tough times, and the Company has organized the Solidarity Fund for that purpose,” said Mr Ruppert. “Each community served by the Solidarity Fund has different needs, and we figured that in Ethiopia, life-saving medical equipment would be the best choice for a donation.”
The equipment was handed over to Mebratu Massebo, National COVID-19 Taskforce Case Management Chief for the Ethiopian Ministry of Health who said this donation will greatly help their fight against COVID-19, and hopefully will allow many more people to survive the virus.
To reduce the risk of infection, the equipment was delivered on unopened pallets in a warehouse and will soon be delivered directly to COVID wards in local hospitals.
This pledge is in addition to the CNH Industrial’s ongoing donations of medical equipment supplies, including ventilators, personal protective equipment, electrical generators and ambulances, to healthcare providers around the world.
