Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Supports Women-Owned Flower Farming Business Development

July 20, 2018 /3BL Media/ - Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde promotes the creation, improvement and development of micro and small enterprises through its various programs in Arequipa, Peru. These development programs provides financial support and technical assistance to entrepreneurs. Business owners in the districts of Uchumayo, Tiabaya, Yarabamba and La Joya are able to participate.

Producing field-grown, specialty cut flowers for commercial sale is one such training programs that Cerro Verde provides to community members. Agronomists in rootstock plant propagation, which involves growth pattern and grafting techniques, train participants. In the coming weeks the roses will be harvested for market sale.
