Chrysler Named to Best 50 Companies for Hispanic Women; Railroad Sustainability Symposium Discusses Sustainability for Rail; Lehigh Technologies Provides Recycled Rubber for Europe - CSR Minute for October 3, 2012
Chrysler has been included on Latina Style magazine’s 2012 list of the “50 Best Companies for Hispanic Women to Work For in the U.S.” The list highlights companies that have a dedicated effort to diverse recruitment and promotion initiatives, including companies that have programs to recruit veterans and military personnel.
Norfolk Southern and GE Transportation hosted the second annual Railroad Sustainability Symposium to discuss how sustainability impacts railroads, freight transportation, and supply chain logistics. The event included an update on the development of an electric switcher locomotive, designed to reduce emissions in rail yards, and the introduction of a carbon calculator by the American Association of Railroads to estimate the amount of emissions avoided by using a particular route or mode.
Lehigh Technologies and HERA Holding have teamed up to provide micronized rubber powder for Europe’s tire, consumer, and industrial plastics and coatings industries. The sustainable material, produced from end-of-life tires and post-industrial rubber, will enable HERA, the Spanish waste-to-resource company to develop the market for low-cost, sustainable raw materials across Europe. Lehigh’s MRP is currently used by five of the world’s ten largest tire companies.
