LITTLE ROCK, Ark., May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- West Memphis-based CITGO Marketer Flash Oil and CITGO Petroleum Corporation recently teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for the first annual Muscle Team Madness event in Little Rock, Ark. Raising more than $16,000 to support the local MDA summer programs, these funds will cover the cost for 20 children to attend Camp Aldersgate in Little Rock.

"Our very first Muscle Team Madness event was a resounding success," said Sarah Privett, executive director at the Muscular Dystrophy Association. "I can't overstate our appreciation for our presenting sponsor, CITGO, and our local Marketer, Flash Oil. It's such a privilege to witness the positive impact that our work has on children and families coping with neuromuscular diseases. It was a pleasure to share that joy with all of those involved."

More than 100 people turned out to support the event, which paired children living with neuromuscular diseases with local celebrities, including professional golfer Pat Bradley and NFL player Clint Stoerner. Sloane Roberts, the reigning Miss Arkansas, was also on hand to meet the children and entertain the audience by performing a song and dance number.

"The first annual Muscle Team Madness event was an amazing opportunity to raise funds and awareness for an important cause," said Jamie Patterson, president at Flash Oil. "We were touched by how much fun the children had with their MDA buddies, and we're so grateful to MDA and CITGO for inviting us to be a part of the inaugural event. We are already looking forward to being a part of this event next year."

In addition to pairing up the MDA children with local celebrities, the evening featured various activities, including CITGO Gift Card giveaways, a live and silent auction, a dart competition, plinko, raffle prizes and live entertainment. Several prizes won the envy of the crowd, including a premier golf package, a Razorback collector's items package, a one-of-a-kind painting by Sloane Roberts and a Razorback tailgating kit.
